This year India will host the 4th Asia Pacific Conference on Reproductive and Sexual Health (APCRSH). The conference will take place during 29th - 31st October, 2007 at the Hyderabad International Convention Centre (HICC).

The India Consortium on Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights comprising of eight members (listed below) has been awarded the privilege to host the 4th APCRSH to be organized in October 2007.

The India Organizing Committee (IOC) for the 4th APCRSH consists of following 21 members:

With the expected participation of over 1200 delegates, the 4th APCRSH aims for:

  • Enhancing understanding of the elements and principles for right-based programming on sexual and reproductive health in the Asia Pacific region
  • Developing newer discourses to inform future research and programming to address sexual and reproductive health needs from the perspective of young people, including adolescents
  • Engaging multiple stakeholders in advocacy to reinforce the centrality of sexual and reproductive health for the achievement of the Millennium Development Goals

 

The scientific programme will include: Parallel sessions, plenary sessions, symposia, satellite sessions, poster presentations and skills building & empowerment workshops. The Conference is organising parallel sessions within the following six tracks:

  • Expanding and Empowering the Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights Movement.
  • Moving Beyond Tokenism – Enabling and Realising Young People’s Potential in Improving Sexual and Reproductive Health.
  • Equalising Sexual Relationships: Gender, Sexuality and Sexual Diversity.
  • Responding to Emerging Issues in Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights: Technology, Ethics and Policy.
  • Addressing Unmet Need for Sexual and Reproductive Health Services.
  • Making Pregnancy Safe and Wanted: A Non-negotiable Entitlement for Women.

 

The call for abstracts has already been announced and the last date for online abstract submission is May 31st, 2007.
